Charts of the Day: China’s Growing 5G Business Opportunities

Nearly 90% of China’s mobile phone users will be on 5G networks by the end of the decade and the connections will account for nearly a third of the global total, providing a sea of growth opportunities for the country’s mobile carriers, an industry group predicted in a new report.

The number of 5G connections in China reached 810 million at the end of 2023, or 45% of total mobile connections, according to The Mobile Economy China report published by GSMA Tuesday. The industry group forecast that the figure will double to 1.64 billion by 2030, when 88% of the country’s total connections will be 5G.
